I've been having fun with a bunch of fake flowers that North American Textile donated. Here is a sweater i covered in satin roses as well as a bolero hat. with the right lighting, i've been finding photobooth to take some pretty decent pictures.

For those that I told that the band name was being changed to "Brigsley Blong and her imaginary friends"...that was a bad idea, though you will find a reoccuring theme around that title within the band and in future theatrical projects.

I was up at Kerry Brown's studio this week in the hills where the (Smashing Pumpkins record and display all their Platinum) listening to a final mixdown of a new Fancy Space People single (a band in which i sing backup) while a podcast on ustream.com was being filmed..how frightning! its hours of banter between don bolles and the band and even some billy corgan guitarring, and every once in awhile one of my nameless beasts pops in to demand respect...

Recently it was written by Club Dingaling I was the "kate bush of a post bush era". Oh if i could be so lucky!!

Today I was in the back lot of HM157 making a black marble (okay, Faux) bird cage to dance in..perhaps i'll use it at Mr T's tomorrow. I have also been sleeping till 2pm, compulsively sewing snake scarves, face masks and costumes and props (to keep me from getting depressed, i suppose). Next week's task is to make a friend for the nameless beast.

11/09 EMILYS OTHER BAND

In a fit of rage quit my job being a superstar hangtag designer for the high-volume fashion industry and then was conveniently offered to sing with Fancy Space People the next day when they were practicing at my house. This is a really cool band that has been growing in popularity with the underground rock scene in LA, started by Nora Keys (of the Centimeters) and Don bolles (of the Germs and 45 grave), and they also run club ding-a-ling in silverlake, which i've played a couple times but go to quite religiously on tuesdays). Oh yeah, they also just got signed by Billy Corgan (of the smashing Pumpkins) and we will be recording in January and playing out more this spring. Fun stuff.

Finally got to play a little piano this morning and decided to maybe trim the fat. Knee deep in 9 design and music colaboration projects, and just moved back from portland to the HM157 house (i.e. Church of Fashion) in Linclon Heights / LA, which is a pretty cool venue & workspace and theres been a lot of really excellent bands playing and interesting people coming through. Its a place that has the ability push diy performance a little further. Fun times, come check it out if ur in the area. we have an anneversary party with a lot of madness on Sept 26 and I will be playing a re-vampped My VElcroe set (maybe i'll even do some praciting) and will unveil some of the projects im slaving (er..getting stoned and sewing) over.

NEW MUSIC VIDEO!

When I was living in portland this summer and was visiting LA for my art opening, I recorded this with my friends Keleigh Fergusion and "Y" at the broken Velcroe installation and at Y's house in Hollywood in one day with little to no planning ... Colin, Kenney, and Nikki all happened to be hanging around and we told them to sit on the couch with me and be themselves, and then we found a fuzzy phone and told them to lip sing the song to it..but that didnt work..then we took a late-nite feild trip to the Landing Party and filmed us dancing on the installation with a handycam and a lot of botched shots for an hour. I then took the footage back up to portland and preceeded to spend three days awake learning final cut and editing it. I was really homesick and those three glorious days somehow lead me to loose my new cleaning job and my alien boyfriend who moved out without my noticing (cause i was so into the video, see)...which then lead me to move back to LA. a week later when colin ambulance took a bus up to Portland to stop my crying. good riddance. i think it turned out nicely. guess those are the perks of being clinically insaine.

heres a link to THE LAST DAY OF BROKEN VELCROE LAND fabric installation I did in june at the Landing Party Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. it was a super fun opening and I performed a couple new songs in front of it and then it served as a backdrop for bands, dj's and comedians all month at their speakeasy.

04/29/09 Hello, in colorado working on projects preparing for an art show at the landing gallery in june. Im sewing these huge canvas and felt tapestries by hand and my hands are full of callouses. my mom has been helping sew too which is nice.

And then if anyone needs me I'll be in portland for the next 6 months. no more sewing just pianoing. i bought my first weighted midi controller. finally. note to fan: Im not gonna play shows until I start deciding to practice and generally appear less boring. youre welcome. But In Portland Im gonna put on an opera, it will be fantastic. dunno if im gonna write a new one or if ill get it done w the bird show but that is kinda being saved for my birds in LA. I'll mis you all. Come Visit me!

02/02/09 Hello, I havent posted in awhile...but here's what i've been doing.

I just wrote a new Operetta with choreographer Natalie Taylor called "Study of Drowning" which was performed in a collective dance show called "La Mar" at the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA on January 23, 24. It is posted on my myspace page and the video will be up soon.

I recently joined the band "The Grand Marquee" as a keyboard player...we're preparing for South by Southwest this spring.

I am currently writing a library of commercial music...a girls' gotta make some $. I am also producing some velcroesized songs written by my friend Emmanuel Troy and also songs by Colin Ambulance.

I've been sewing for an artshow of my new broken velcroe dolls on June 10th, 2009 at the Landing Gallery in downtown los angeles....stay posted for more info.

I am in the brainstorming phase of a new conceptual music stage show that explores female sexuality in a feminist world, told through four "birds" in a cage who become aware they exist for the purpose of musing a handsome painter, and the decisions made when given the opportunity to escape the golden handcuffs. This performance will be a platform to showcase some very talented females emerging from the underground Echo Park/Silverlake rock scene....

Lastly, I left the oblivion house a couple months ago and I've been looking for a new "Broken Velcroe Collective" headquarters in LA and will likely be settled by march. This will serve as a design studio, recording studio, rehearsal /performance space (with a green screen!) and art gallery. We will be hosting monthly shows, so stay tuned!

As far as My Velcroe shows go, im waiting to get moved into a practice space where i can practice with the live band im putting together--yup, im sorta over being solo.... we'll be playing later in the spring.
